Bobby has long and diverse career starting with joining the U.S. Army at the age of 19. During Bobby’s active-duty time of 8 years, he was highly involved in athletic activities to include captain of the military football team while stationed at Camp Darby, Italy for the Camp Darby Rangers Football Team.
In 1982, Bobby ended his active-duty time and joined the Army Reserve Component and retired in 1998 as a Chief Warrant Officer 3. In addition, Bobby joined the corporate work environment and held several positions in the career fields of Information Technology and Human Resources Management. During this time Bobby remained in physical condition to pass all military physical fitness test and participated in the annual Ukrop’s Monument Avenue 10K Race presented by Kroger, held in Richmond, Virginia for several years.
Always being gifted with the ability to teach, Bobby became a career switcher and completed the educational certification to become a high school special needs teacher for the Henrico County and City of Richmond School districts. Bobby retired from the school system in 2016.
In 2017, Bobby retired from all career fields with several accomplishments including earning a Master of Education degree, obtained the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3, U.S. Army Reserve, HRCI Professional in Human Resources (PHR), SHRM Certified Professional (SHRM-CP), Diversity and Inclusion Project Manager and Student Mentor.
After retirement, Bobby took his skills in 2018 to a different kind of business-one that he believed would provide opportunities to help people realize their life dream of a healthier body both physically, mentally, and spiritually. Bobby joined the Fitness Warrior Program sponsored by the Sports Backers, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. As a volunteer, Bobby embraced the vision to develop programs and events that are designed to inspire people from all corners of our community to live actively with an emphasis on underserved communities.
Bobby’s relational approach to fitness and wellness is a gift from God foremost, but also in the linkage with his family consisting of three children and seven grandchildren. Bobby is motivated with a solid foundation of Christian faith that places God values first in doing fitness and wellness daily.
